Ricoh and Equitrac Release Java-Based Version of Embedded Security Solution
Ricoh Americas Corporation and Equitrac Corporation today announced the release of the fourth generation of Print & Copy Control (PCC), a cost-effective and hardware-free system that helps you simultaneously control MFP access, manage account codes, track use, increase user mobility and minimize waste. PCC 4 is part of the award-winning Equitrac Office and Equitrac Express print tracking and cost management suite of solutions. The previous version, PCC 3.1, will still be available to customers throughout the distribution channel.
Ideal for the enterprise, general office and education markets, this solution allows companies to track and manage printing and walk-up costs within their organizations. While PCC 4 continues to allow users to track copying, faxing and scanning via a log-in on select Ricoh-branded MFP displays, the key difference is the Java-based structure which provides seamless integration for the customer. The upgraded PCC version easily integrates with Equitrac Office and Equitrac Express software solutions, offering several enhancements to help organizations manage authentication and control, while at the same time tracking usage and allocating costs in a secure environment.
The new look for PCC 4 provides direct access to the user, with all functionality available from the login screen, including integration with GlobalScan 3.1 and the new GlobalScan NX, which comes standard with single sign-on. In addition, PCC 4 has expanded Follow-You Printing capabilities, allowing users to locate documents anywhere on any print server automatically, with no searching required. Enhanced scanning is also included in the upgrade, with Scan-to-Me now built into the user’s own email. Administrators can determine the level of security required by allowing users to send scans to others, or just their own mailboxes for the highest level of security.
“Bringing enhanced software security solutions to our customers is a key priority and PCC 4 makes security even more accessible, serving as the new benchmark in embedded solutions,” said Michael Rich, CEO, Equitrac Corporation. “Partnering with Ricoh to provide solutions like PCC 4 through its distribution channel has allowed us to continue to bring innovative and high-quality solutions and products into the marketplace.”
PCC 4 is available for customers to upgrade from PCC 3 and if their device is Java enabled, they can upgrade at no additional cost. Through this next generation, PCC 4 expands upon the Ricoh-Equitrac joint venture, which strengthens the value of the partnership. Equitrac, the world leader in print tracking, print management and cost recovery solutions, has partnered with Ricoh since 1999.
