BFS Business Printing Endorses "Growing Greener"
BFS Business Printing has strengthened their commitment to environmentally friendly print process and procedure. Although BFS has sought out eco-friendly business practices since establishment in 1965, the growing momentum of environmentally conscious movements has prompted the company to formally revise preexisting policy. BFS recently launched an internal audit of current business practices in order to design a Green Policy Initiative. Corporate social responsibility, especially in the resource intensive industry of printing, is necessary to ensure future preservation of the global environment.
For most companies, Going Green is a major undertaking that requires significant investment. Currently, environmentally sustainable printing remains in its infancy, limited by eco-friendly products that often jeopardize quality at an increase in cost. BFS hopes to overcome this challenge and find a balance between implementing more environmentally responsible print procedure without sacrificing product quality. The Green Policy Initiative provides for measured increases in efforts to recycle, reuse, and reduce resources, expanded implementation of environmentally responsible technology, increased availability of eco-friendly print alternatives for customers, and a commitment to using Forest Stewardship Council Certified Papers.
“We hear a lot about Going Green in the media, which generally implies significant changes in the business practices of large corporations with the budget and resources to turn their company around overnight,” comments BFS General Manager Andrew Luce. “Because BFS has always been environmentally conscious, even though we don’t have the budget to institute entirely eco-friendly business practices overnight, we pledge our continued effort to reduce our immediate environmental impact, and can work towards the long-term goals of our Green Policy Initiative in a move to achieve Green business status in the future.”
BFS is in the process of evaluating key areas within the company where eco-friendly practices are currently in place in order to identify and target areas where improvement can be expanded on. Following the results of this study, a Growing Green Guide and Paper Policy will be released with specific timetables providing measured increases in environmentally sustainable and responsible products and procedures.
