Xerox Corp. has introduced FreeFlow Express to Print software for entry level and light production print environments. The software offers integrated templates for prepress and file preparation. When jobs are inserted into a template the file is automatically prepared and prepress is complete. It automates common prepress functions and reduces steps required to program print jobs such as business cards, brochures, postcards, books, and manuals. More than 70 templates enable tasks such as imposition, page numbering, Bates numbering, bar codes, watermarks, and finishing. Users may also customize templates for unique customer applications and requirements. PlateWriter 2400
Glunz & Jensen has introduced the PlateWriter 2400 iCtP (inkjet computer-to-plate) plate setter that produces press-ready aluminum plates at 2880 dpi resolution without the use of chemical processing. It jets a patented Liquid Dot chemical solution onto nonphotosensitive aluminum printing plates. The imaged plates are manually fed through a plate finishing unit that dries them and bonds the liquid dots to the plate surface. The plate finishing unit has a built in gumming station to finish the plates and protect them from damage before going to press. Enfocus PitStop Server 4.5
Enfocus has unveiled PitStop Server 4.5, a tool for high-volume PDF preflighting and automatic corrections; Instant Barcode, a barcode application within Adobe Illustrator; and Instant PDF, which makes producing press-ready PDF files easy. This version offers a more intuitive, reworked user interface and allows easy access to hot folder setups, files in process, and a comprehensive history log. The history of processed files, including detailed report information per job, can be filtered and exported in different formats for statistical analysis. The new server-based processing function enables it to run as a service on Windows and a login item on Mac OS X 10.4. It allows users to start processing jobs without the need to launch the PitStop Server 4.5 user interface.
