Electing To Lead

Coaching

Wasn't it yesterday everyone was worrying about Y2K? Wondering whether—after the crystal ball fell in Times Square on New Year's Eve 1999—computers would work, planes would fly, and financial institutions would lose track of investments? Where in the name of Dick Clark did eight years go?

Somehow the time machine launched forward to 2008…into a flat world that is filled with iPod downloads, YouTube videos, and MySpace connections. None of which, by the way, existed at the start of the millennium.

Is Tom Brady the greatest quarterback ever, or did Johnny Unitas long ago cement that legacy? It's a never ending debate to entertain the generations.

Politics is different. How many would suggest any American leader of the last 100 years should have his bust carved into Mount Rushmore? Reagan gains more popularity as the years pass. JFK forever will be filled with promise. FDR showed the way through two of the most trying times in history. After those three, the other 14 presidents since Theodore Roosevelt simply blend together, like all the hockey players not named Wayne Gretzky.
